Charity Quiz

A charity table quiz in aid of Ugandan Aids orphans will take place in McGovern’s Pub on Wednesday, May 19.

Entry for the quiz will cost only €5 per person.

The Social Evening which was held in Seán Ógs in Kilmuckridge on Sunday, April 25 last was a great success.

The fundraiser was in aid of the Irish Kidney Association – Wexford Branch.

The organisers want to thank everyone who supported it in any way and the total amount collected to date is over €8,000.

Lions Club Golf Classic

Gorey and District Lions Club held a very successful Golf Classic in Courtown Golf Club on Friday last, May 7.

The committee would like to thank the captains and committee for the use of the course.

They also thanked the caterers for providing the food and all the tee sponsors and player who supported on the day.

Public meeting

A public meeting, hosted by Educate Together Second level school committee, will take place tonight, May 12 at 8pm in the Amber Springs for parents/ guardians/educators.

Teddy Bear’s Picnic

All 16 children from Patricia’s Preschool in Tara Hill will be taking part in the Danone Teddy Bear’s Picnic on Friday, May 14 from 11am in aid of Barnados.

This is the fifth year the children of the school will be raising money for the children’s charity and last year’s group raised €600.

Week of the Elderly

The 26th annual Week of the Elderly continues in style in north Wexford this week until Friday, May 14 with the following events: Wednesday, May12 – Evening at the Ardamine Hotel with guests from Castlebridge and Ballygarrett.

Thursday, May 13 – Outing to Dublin Zoo with picnic on the lawns, followed by dinner in Arklow Bay Hotel.

Friday, May 14 – Ecumenical Service in the Methodist church at 8pm followed by a talent competition and refreshment.

Music during the week will be by Dermot and Jimmy.

St Aidan’s Lotto

St. Aidan’s Services have just launched a new Lotto with a jackpot of €2,000.

Tickets cost €2 each and are available from various shops and businesses around Gorey.

The first draw will be made on Friday, May 28 in the Amber Springs.

Saint Vincent de Paul

The Gorey branch of Saint Vincent de Paul will be giving out cheese on Thursday, May 13 at their headquarters in St. Joseph’s on St. Michael’s Road from 10am until finish. People are asked to bring their own bags on the day.

Coffee Morning

A Coffee Morning will be held in the Loch Garman Arms on Friday, May 14 from 10am in aid of athletes from Special Olympics Club Gorey Area (SOCGA) who are travelling to the National Games in Limerick in June.

There are only five weeks left until the finals and the cost of bring all the athletes and coaches to the games is €12,000.

Please support your home team. Every little helps.

High Kings Concert

The High Kings are coming to the Amber Springs Hotel in Gorey on Saturday, May 29.

Tickets cost €30 and all money raised will go towards St. Aidan’s Services.

Tickets are available on TicketsIreland.ie (1890 305 305) as well as Jack Dunnes, Whites for Music in Gorey, Ice Menswear and in the Amber Springs.

Equestrian Competition

A Mini, Midi Maxi equestrian competition will take place on May 23 at the Riverside Equestrian Centre in The Rock at 2pm.

All money raised will go towards St. Aidan’s Services.

Tag Rugby

Why not keep fit over the summer as Gorey RFC’s Summer Tag continues at their grounds in Clonattin each Wednesday night at 7.30pm. All welcome.

SOCGA

Special Olympics Club Gorey Area in association with Springmount Nursery is hosting a Teddy Bears Picnic and family fun day in Springmount Garden Centre, Ballycanew on Sunday, May 23 from 12 to 6pm.

Events include fancy dress, BBQ, music and lots of fun games to play.

Bring along a Teddy Bear too.

This event will raise much needed funds for the Special Olympics Club in Gorey.

Gorey Heartsafe

Tonight, Wednesday, May 12 a revalidation will take place in the Ashdown Park Hotel between 7.30pm and 9pm.

On Wednesday May 19, there is a training class between 7pm and 10pm again in the Ashdown Park Hotel.

The Bealtaine Festival (May 16, 17, and 18) Entries for the Talent Competition are urgently required. Sing a song, do a dance, tell a tall tale or play a tune.

Line Dancing takes place each Thursday from 1.45pm to 3.45pm in the Badminton Hall on Esmonde Street.

A Table Quiz will take place on June 10 from 8.30pm in the Loch Garman Arms. Tables of four will cost €20 and it will be open to non-members.
