St. Aidan’s Got Talent

Auditions for St. Aidan’s Got Talent 2010 will take place on Sunday, June 20 in the Amber Springs Hotel between 2 and 8pm.

The winning prize will be €800 and the entry fee for each act will be €10.

Richie Kavanagh will also play in the Amber Springs in aid of St. Aidan’s on June 26 with tickets costing €10 which are available from the hotel.

Gorey Skate Club

Gorey Skate Club presents the Summer Skate Skool 2010. Running all summer long, skateboarding lessons for beginner and intermediate skaters are given in the south east’s only skate park.

Lessons are on a Saturday morning and all equipment and safety gear is provided. So, if your six or over and want to improve your skating, please get in touch at www.goreyskateclub. com.

NWSPCA Lotto

The June winning numbers for the North Wexford Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals monthly fundraising lotto draw are 2, 12, 13 and 17.

There was no winner of the €2,400 jackpot and three tickets were pulled out in the lucky dip draw, these winners were Tina Kealy, F. Hanlon and Sean Kealy, each received €15. Next month’s lotto jackpot increases to €2,450 and the draw will be held on Monday July 5.

The lotto also has a Multi-Draw facility where people can enter the draw up to six months in advance you select the same numbers and they are automatically submitted every month, ask sellers for details.

The Society is looking for additional ticket sellers, if you can help, contact their emergency response number on 0876392531 to be included.

The Rock

The Rock Community Social Club annual Mass will take place on June 25 from 8p,m, in the Rock Hall and all are welcome.

The annual Rock Field Day will take place on Sunday, August 8.

The next community meeting will take place on Tuesday, July 6 at 9p.m. in the Rock Hall and all are welcome to attend.

Gorey Musical Society

The Gorey Musical Society will be showing a DVD of their recent performance of Thoroughly Modern Millie in the Loch Garman Arms tonight, Wednesday, June 16 at 8.30pm.

DVDs will be on sale on the night and for further information please phone 086-3008646.

Gorey Tennis Club

The Tennis Club’s annual golf outing was held in Courtown Golf Club on Friday, May 14.

Victorious on the day with an impressive score of 88 points was the team of Frances Swords, Mike Hooke and Diarmuid Prendergast, with Denis Howell, Dympna Doyle and Jimmy Mac Donald in second place (85 points) and Laura Funge, David Bolger and Tommy Kinsella (84 points) in third place.

Eileen Cullen was on form with her driver to take ladies’ longest drive, with Paul Brooks winning the gents’ longest drive and Jimmy MacDonald won the nearest-the-pin on the 18th.

Entertainment was provided afterwards by Cathal O’Donohoe.

Sold out

The PJ Gallagher gig in Gorey Comedy Club at the Loch Garman Arms on July 2 has sold out in a record time of just five days and no further tickets will be available.

The new website for the comedy club will also be announced on the night.

Sponsored Cycle

A sponsored cycle in aid of St. Luke’s Cancer Hospital will take place this Saturday, June 19. Around 55 cyclists will start out from Rathnew in Wicklow and make their way through Arklow, Inch, Gorey, Courtown and finishing in Ballygarrett between 5.30and 6p.m.

There will be a social evening and auction in O’Brien’s in Killenagh starting at 9.30p.m. with Liam Spratt auctioning among other items a signed Leinster rugby ball and Wexford hurling jersey.

Funked-up Disco

On Thursday, June 17 a Funked-up Disco will take place in Jupiter nightclub with top DJs including Mark Kavanagh from Dublin, DJ Efafa from London and DJ Wizard from Wicklow.

Doors open at 9.30p.m. and admission costs only €5. All money raised will go towards St. Aidan’s Services.

Gorey Celtic

The Gorey Celtic Schoolboys’ AGM will be held on June 30 at the clubhouse at 7p.m. All are asked to attend.

Kyle Hill Walk

On Sunday, June 20 the Kyle Hill Walk will take place in memory of Mary Coogan and in aid of the local MS Branch.

Participants are asked to meet at 6p.m. at Jim Coogan’s Yard, Kyle, Ballinglen, Arklow and this will be followed by Mass at 7p.m.

Everyone is welcome and light refreshments will be served afterwards.

Badminton Club

Gorey Badminton Club are now running a Summer Club, every Wednesday from 8 to 10p.m. in the Naomh Eanna GAA Club in Clonattin.

Gorey Musical Society

The Gorey Musical Society will have a stall at the Car Boot Sale in Esmonde Street car park on Saturday, June 19.

BBQ

Gorey Methodist Church will be holding a barbecue on Friday, June 25 from 6.30 until 9p.m. at the farm of Mrs. Lily Warren in Morriscastle, Kilmuckridge. Admission is €20 for adults and €5 for children.

Gorey Show

The annual Gorey Agricultural Show will take place on June 19 in its new home in Clonattin, This year’s show will have all the usual show classes for horses, sheep and cattle.

The Arts and Crafts and Indoor Competitions will take place on the day.

Admission is €5 for adults and kids get in for free.

Gorey Rangers’ Schoolboys’ Soccer

The Academy training for the tiny tots section has finished now until the new season resumes.

The AGM will be held on June 17 at 8pm again in the Loch Garman Arms and all are welcome to attend.

Registration and a family fun day will be held on June 19 from 10.30a.m. in the Showgrounds at Fort Road which will include a BBQ, bouncy castle and junior soccer blitz.

St Aidan’s Lotto

St. Aidan’s Services have just launched a new Lotto with a jackpot of €2,000.

Tickets cost €2 each and are available from various shops and businesses around Gorey.

The first draw will be made on Friday, May 28 in the Amber Springs.

Tag Rugby

Why not keep fit over the summer as Gorey RFC’s Summer Tag continues at their grounds in Clonattin each Wednesday at 7.30p.m. All welcome.

Meals on Wheels

The Gorey Community Social Services’ Council is seeking additional volunteer drivers for their Meals-on-Wheels service on Thursdays. All deliveries are on a voluntary basis with people using their own cars.

The service is helping support the elderly in our community and is assisting in people retaining their independence and the ability to stay living in our community.

Can you afford approximately an hour a fortnight from twelve noon to one o’clock on a Thursday? If you can please contact the Gorey Community Social Services Council at 0876392539.
