Gorey Celtic

Pre season training resumes on Tuesday, July 20 at 7pm.

All new members are welcome.

Gorey Celtic has three adult teams and one youth team this year. The club AGM will be on Thursday, 22nd July at 8.30pm in the clubhouse.

Niall Mellon

Tom Kavanagh from Riverchapel is once again heading off with the Niall Mellon Township Trust in November to help the poor people of South Africa.

On Friday and Saturday last Tom was in Dunnes Stores in Gorey Shopping Centre selling tickets for a raffle which will take place in the coming week. He thanked everyone for their support.

This weekend Church gate collections will take place in Riverchapel on Saturday evening at 6pm and Sunday at 9am, 11am and 12am masses in aid of the Niall Mellon Township Trust.

Summer Sale

A summer sale including country produce, books, bottle-stall, auction and cakes will take place on Wednesday, July 14 from 7pm in Christchurch Old School, Gorey.

Gorey Rangers

The AGM of Gorey Rangers will take place on July 14 in Paddy Blues from 7.30pm and all are welcome.

Gorey Rangers’ Schoolboys

An FAI-run summer soccer school will be hosted by Gorey Rangers’ Schoolboys in the Showgrounds from August 16 to 20. For more information visit www.summersocerschools.ie or contact Anne McGreal on 0876302093.

Annual BBQ

The annual barbeque in aid of County Wexford Hospice Homecare will take place on July 24 from 9pm in the Amber Springs Hotel. Delicious food and a great night’s entertainment is guaranteed.

Music by the Bass Brothers and the Brendan Kennedy Band will ensure everyone dances the night away. Tickets are now available from James Tompkins on 086-2604097 or 0539420060 and cost €25.

Collection

The St. Joseph’s branch of Saint Vincent de Paul in Gorey will hold their summer collection at all Masses in Gorey and Tara Hill on Saturday evening and Sunday, July 31/August 1. Please be as generous as possible.

Anne Slator would like to thank everyone that supported her in the Ladies Mini Marathon in Dublin recently. She raised €2,200 in aid of Christ Church in Gorey.

Summer Camp

The FAI Summer School Soccer camp at Gorey Celtic’s ground in Mullaufin will be taking place between August 2 and 6 (Mainstream Camp) and Goalkeeping camp on August 16 and 17.

Any girl who registers for the camp will be entered into a draw to be flag bearers at a Women’s International game later in the year.

Gorey Skate Club

Gorey Skate Club presents the Summer Skate Skool 2010. Running all summer long, skateboarding lessons for beginner and intermediate skaters are given in the south east’s only skate park.

Lessons are on a Saturday morning and all equipment and safety gear is provided. So, if you’re six or over and want to improve your skating, please get in touch at www.goreyskateclub.com.

Table Quiz

A table quiz will take place in McGovern’s pub on tonight, Wednesday, July 14 in aid of Hospice Homecare, Wexford from 9pm. Tables of four and all welcome.

Coffee Day

A coffee day in aid of the Hope Cancer Support Centre in Enniscorthy will take place in Castle Delights, Kilmuckridge on Friday, July 16 from 12pm to 7pm. Tickets for the event are available locally or you can call AnnMarie on 086-8581188.

Soldiers of Skate

The Gorey Skate Club will be hosting their Soldiers of Skate championships on Saturday July 17 in the skate park in Gorey Showground which will see three different age categories, street and bowl competitions, a barbeque, refreshments, music and a whole lot more.

St. Aidan’s AGM

St. Aidan’s Day Care Centre will be holding their Annual General Meeting in the canteen at St. Aidan’s, Millands, Gorey on Thursday, August 5 at 7.30pm.

Tea and Coffee will be served afterwards and the minutes of the 2009 AGM will be available at St. Aidan’s reception from July 28.

Rural Roadrunner

Please note that the Rural Roadrunner bus from Bunclody to Gorey every second Wednesday is now operating via Clohamon, Kilrush, Ballyroebuck, Ballyandrew Cross, Kilthomas Cross, Bolinaspick and Camolin.

They operate a door-to-door service where possible. Please call 0539155800 for more details and to book your seat.

Ladies football camp

There will be a three-day Ladies Football camp in the Naomh Eanna Complex in Clonattin on August 3, 4, 5 from 10am to 2pm.

The camp will be for kids from the ages of 5-14years and all are welcome.

The camp will take place in a safe and fun environment by qualified coaches and all participants will receive a gift at the completion of the camp. The camp costs €40 per child (€20 deposit payable in advance).

Mock Wedding

A Mock Wedding/Fun Night will take place on Friday, July 30 in the Ashdown Park Hotel at 8pm with music by Tommy Carroll.

St Aidan’s Lotto

St. Aidan’s Services have launched a new Lotto with a jackpot of €2,000. Tickets cost €2 each and are available from various shops and businesses around Gorey.

Gorey Musical Society

The Gorey Musical Society will put on their summer show Drama at Inish every Tuesday and Thursday evening during July and August at 8.30pm. Tickets will be available at the door.

Summer Bazaar

The Ardamine Union of Churches Summer Bazaar will take place on Wednesday, July 21 at 7pm in Riverchapel Community Centre and will include the usual attractions such as: teas, cakes, bric-a-brac, books, toys and games.

Tag Rugby

Why not keep fit over the summer as Gorey RFC’s Summer Tag continues at their grounds in Clonattin each Wednesday night at 7.30pm. All welcome.

NWSPCA Volunteers

If you can afford some time to help out at the NWSPCA re-homing centre and can help them prepare more animals for a second chance of getting a good life you can volunteer by contacting 087-6392539 and documentation will be posted out.

Any volunteers under-16 must be accompanied by an adult and everyone under 18 must have parents consent. If you feel strongly enough about animal welfare, this is your opportunity to do something about it.

Gorey Active Retired

Booking for Mystery Tour on August 25 now open. The trip costs €60 including morning coffee/tea & scone; a light lunch; evening fourcourse meal; music & dancing and a raffle.

Bowling takes place on Mondays between 11am and 1pm in the Badminton Hall.

Go for Life on Tuesdays between 11am and 12pm and Whist takes place between 12pm and 1pm in the Ashdown Park Hotel.

Walk in the Courtown wood area on Wednesdays: Meet at the Forest Park at 11am. Coffee and chat at Taravie Hotel afterwards.
