Festival crowns Mr. Potato head

THE THIRD annual Skins N’All Potato Festival took place last weekend and saw the first ever Mr. Potato Head crowned.

Over six-and-a-half stone of British Queens were served up to the hungry crowd at the Bunker Bar where the festival took place on Friday evening.

Organiser and founder of the festival, Gerry Byrne said it was a great success and the festival was organised to “celebrate the arrival of the new season British Queens.”

As well as enjoying the spuds with butter, guests also took part in the Potato Quiz with the winner getting the honour of being crowned Mr. or Mrs. Potato Head.

The honour this year went to Paul Davis who will see his name up in lights in the Bunker Bar for the next year. It was the first year a man had won the top prize with a Mrs. Potato Head being crowned on each of the two previous years.

The potatoes were supplied this year for the festival by Jim Kinsella from Monaseed.
