Table Quiz
A table quiz will take place in the Golden Anchor, Castletown on Friday, August 6 from 9p.m..
Teams of four will cost €20 and all money raised will go towards the Friends of Gorey Hospital and specifically towards the construction of two new rooms.
Hockey Camp
Gorey Hockey Camp are holding a Hockey Summer Camp for boys and girls between five and 14 years of age in the Naomh Éanna GAA complex on August 16, 17 and 18.
The cost of the summer camp will be €30 for club members and €35 for non-members.

Leskinfere Dog Show
The Leskinfere Dog Show will take place in the Old School House, Clough, on Friday, July 30 at 7p.m. and there will be 12 classes on show on the evening.
Tom Funge Memorial Cups
Courtown Golf Club will host the Tom Funge Memorial Cups for boys and girls on Thursday, August 12.
The competition will be run on a Stableford format with entry open to
those under-18 on January 1, 2010. The handicap limit for boys is 10 to 24 and for girls is 36.
The tee will be reserved from 8a.m. until 2.30p.m. and the time sheet will be available from August 3 between 9a.m. and 5p.m. in Courtown Golf Club (053-9425166) Entry fee will be €10 including a light lunch.
Eddie Stones
A bus going to Clonfert to see Eddie Stones will leave from Gorey on Wednesday, August 4. For details contact Mary on 0402-37571.
Whist Drive
This Thursday’s Whist Drive in Riverchapel Community Centre will take place in aid of Tom Kavanagh’s trip with the Niall Mellon Township Trust to South Africa. As well as the whist drive there will be a raffle on the night with some great prizes.
Christ Church Dog Show
The Gorey Christ Church Dog Show will take place on August 7 in the grounds of Gorey Central School. Entries will be taken from 11a.m.
costing €3 per class with judging starting at 1p.m. There will be eight classes as well as a number of novelty classes and perpetual trophies handed out. For more details contact show secretary on 083-3125346.
Rockstock
The Bunker Bar will once again host the Rockstock Music Festival on the weekend of August 6 and 7. Local acts such as Chucky’s River, Ragdoll, Jimi Cullen and the Jobless and Rumours of a Rift will be performing and tickets for the event can be bought from JayKabs; Curvy Chic; The Bunker Bar; Somer’s Garage, Camolin; Celtic Ink, Arklow; Brooke’s Supermarket, Riverchapel and Ballymoney Golf Club.
Field Day
The Naomh Éanna GAA Club Field Day will take place on Sunday, August 8 in Clonattin, Gorey. Admission on the day is free and some of the attractions include children’s races, dog show, wheel of fortune and a monster raffle.
Actors for Africa
In aid of Zimbabwe, the Actors for Africa evening in Gorey Little Theatre will feature actors reading from their own written work.
The event will include a cheese and wine reception and tickets are only €10.
Gorey Celtic
Pre-season training has now resumed and all new members are welcome.
Gorey Celtic have three adult teams and one youth team.
Under-14 and 16 pre-season training takes place on Wednesdays at from 5.00 to 6.30p.m. and Saturdays from 10.30a.m. to 12p.m.
The Gorey Celtic Schoolgirls’ preseason training for girls aged between eight and 12 takes place every Tuesday and Thursday from 5 to 6p.m. at Mulinafin.

Gorey Art Circle
The Gorey Art Circle will host their 36th annual exhibition in Christ Church Old School from Saturday, July 31 until Sunday, August 8.
The exhibition will be open from 2 to 8p.m.

Gorey Tidy Towns committee is now looking for new members.

Collection
The St. Joseph’s branch of Saint Vincent de Paul in Gorey will hold their summer collection at all Masses in Gorey and Tara Hill on Saturday evening and Sunday, July 31/August 1.

Summer Camp
The FAI Summer School Soccer camp at Gorey Celtic’s ground in Mullaufin will be taking place between August 2 and 6 (Mainstream Camp) and Goalkeeping camp on August 16 and 17.

Gorey Skate Club
Gorey Skate Club presents the Summer Skate Skool 2010. Running all summer long, skateboarding lessons for beginner and intermediate skaters are given in the south east’s only skate park.
Lessons are on a Saturday morning and all equipment and safety gear is provided. So, if you’re six or over and want to improve your skating, please get in touch at www.goreyskateclub.com.
St. Aidan’s AGM
St. Aidan’s Day Care Centre will be holding their Annual General Meeting in the canteen at St. Aidan’s, Millands, Gorey, on Thursday, August 5 at 7.30p.m. Tea and Coffee will be served afterwards and the minutes of the 2009 AGM will be available at St. Aidan’s reception from July 28.
Rural Roadrunner
Please note that the Rural Roadrunner bus from Bunclody to Gorey every second Wednesday is now operating via Clohamon, Kilrush, Ballyroebuck, Ballyandrew Cross, Kilthomas Cross, Bolinaspick and Camolin.
The next service is today, Wednesday July 7 and they operate a door-todoor service where possible.

Ladies’ football camp
There will be a three-day Ladies’ Football camp in the Naomh Éanna Complex in Clonattin on August 3, 4, 5 from 10a.m. to 2p.m.
The camp will be for kids from the ages of 5-14 years and all are welcome.
The camp will take place in a safe and fun environment by qualified coaches and all participant will receive a gift at the completion of the camp. The camp costs €40 per child (€20 deposit payable in advance).

Gorey Musical Society
The Gorey Musical Society will put on their summer show, Drama at Inish, every Tuesday and Thursday evening during July and August at 8.30pm. Tickets will be available at the door.
Mock Wedding
A Mock Wedding/Fun Night will take place on Friday, July 30 in the Ashdown Park Hotel at 8p.m. with music by Tommy Carroll.
Tickets cost €20 including finger food and all proceeds will go towards the Gorey Musical Society.

NWSPCA Volunteers
If you can afford some time to help out at the NWSPCA re-homing centre and can help them prepare more animals for a second chance of a getting a good life you can volunteer by contacting 087-6392539 and documentation will be posted out.
Any volunteers under-16 must be accompanied by an adult and everyone under 18 must have parents’ consent.
